Calgary-based CTI Plus Resources has successfully submitted the initial project description (IPD) and engagement plan (EP) for the Rocky Creek metallurgical coal project to the British Columbia Environmental Assessment Office (BC EAO) and the Federal Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC).
“We are excited to develop this metallurgical coal open pit mine project, which will greatly benefit the economy and create significant, high-paying jobs for the local communities. We are also dedicated to ensuring that our project is developed responsibly and sustainably,” said CTI Plus Resources CEO Yulin Li.
“The acceptance of our IPD and EP by both the BC EAO and IAAC is an important step forward, and we look forward to working closely with Indigenous Nations, local communities and all stakeholders as we move through the regulatory process.”
The IPD outlines the proposed project’s scope and potential environmental impacts, while the EP details the company’s commitment to engaging with Indigenous Nations, communities and stakeholders throughout the assessment process. This marks a significant milestone in CTI Plus’ commitment to transparency, collaboration, and environmental stewardship.
Rocky Creek, located 47 kilometers southwest of Chetwynd, B.C., is projected to be operational in 2030 and have a total annual run-of-mine production rate of 3.0 million tonnes. It has an operational mine life of 14 years.
